Middle School students recognized for outstanding achievements

Congratulations to our seventh and eighth grade Middle School Spelling Bee Champions Keturah Jordan and Samantha Wakeham! These students were two of 20 other students who advanced to the school-wide championship round and won in their respective grade levels. These students will go on to represent Washingtonville Middle School in the Orange County Spelling Bee.

Mrs. Forestire’s eighth graders’ marker dragon eyes were on display this weekend at The Orange County Arts Council “Arts Build Confidence'' festival at the Middletown Galleria Mall. Mall goers were able to see the art displayed on the monitors. Students and their families came out to support and view their achievements while representing Washingtonville Middle School. Eighth graders in Mrs. Siruchek’s App Creator classes have been working on a new app called “The Germ Fighter”. They learned new coding and programming concepts and jumped into the role of game developer.

The Middle School Odyssey of the Mind teams have been working since October to create solutions to their long-term problems. They will compete this Saturday at regionals in Goshen in hope of making it to the state competition in Syracuse!
