Clubs and Activities

Adolescents Against Drugs and Alcohol is open to all three grade levels. Through interactive activities, trips, and volunteer opportunities, students learn about the risks of using alcohol and other drugs. They also learn good decision-making skills.

Through long-term projects and participation in the annual Middle School Art show, students use their creative talents. Due to the high volume of interest, availability, and safety, students will be selected by application.

Each year the Middle School puts on a fall play and a spring musical. Students need to audition for roles in the cast. Students also can get involved in the technical aspects of the show, which include lighting and prop arrangement.

The Spanish and French clubs are open to all 7th and 8th graders. Learning games and cultural activities enrich the study of the two languages.

This volunteer club assists people in need in the Washingtonville area. Working mainly with Country Kids Pantry, the club also explores other ways of making a positive difference in the community.

This Memorial Park Maintenance Club helps maintain the 9/11 memorial. This is a great club if you like to be outdoors and help the community.

Members of the club write articles (news, opinions, reviews, short stories, games, puzzles, etc.) for publication in the school newspaper. 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students are invited to join.

This is a competition club made up of teams of seven 6th, 7th or 8th-grade students. Through creative problem solving, teams write a script based on a question and a problem, build the props, design costumes and practice spontaneous questions.

This is a group of students interested in creating a positive change in our school community. This is accomplished through random acts of kindness and compassion.

Participants will learn skills to build self-esteem and improve emotional and physical health. Guest speakers, activities and non-competitive running are parts of the program.

Students go to classrooms and offices to recycle paper and plastics. The club donates its proceeds to local charities.

This club involves introducing students to the fundamentals of leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork. They will conduct several activities with the JROTC program at the high school. The activities they will engage in throughout the year will be simulation games, the creation of an orienteering trail and learning how to use a compass. They also play field games from history and other games that the students show interest in.

If you enjoy mountain sports, this is the club for you! Starting in January, students will go to Mountain Creek on either a Monday or a Tuesday night. All 6th, 7th and 8th graders are invited to volunteer to help with our participants.

The student council assists with a variety of activities such as open house, escorting visiting 5th graders, and school dances. It promotes respect and concern for the school community. Any interested student can join.

The Troubadours is an a cappella (without instruments) singing group. All middle school students are welcomed. No audition necessary.

Book club membership is open to all students interested in reading and discussing books. Students read nominees for the Charlotte Award as well as new fiction and nonfiction. Meetings are held once a month in the library.

Students help with taking pictures, assembling the layout and the sales and distribution of the yearbook.
